The Micah Challenge India Campaign was launched in Mizoram on 26 February 2008 at the Synod Conference Centre, Mission Veng, Aizawl. A whole day seminar was organised by Micah Challenge India which was attended by over 130 participants from all over Mizoram. The participants were church leaders and staff representing 7 denominations and various organisations.
This seminar was organised in partnership with Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) - a local network body of Christian leaders from all the major denominations in Mizoram. The local organising body was SHALOM, an NGO involved in providing care and support to HIV and AIDS infected and affected. The meeting was chaired by Maj. Lianhlira of Salvation Army and the Chairman of the Social Action Committee of MKHC.
The Co-Chair of Micah Challenge India Mr. C. B. Samuel spoke on why Christians should be involved on Justice and Advocacy. Rev. Dino L Touthang, Executive Director of EFICOR and Treasurer of Micah Challenge led a discussion on the outworking of Justice in Mizoram. Ms. Lalbiakhlui Rokhum, National Co-ordinator did a presentation on the campaign in India and also led the discussion on how the campaign can be taken forward in Mizoram.
A book entitled 'Justice and Advocacy' was also released on the occasion by the Chief guest Mr. Robert Hrangdawla, Chief Information Commissioner, MSIC.
